Visiting a Disney Park with family and friends can be a lot of fun. While you may spend most of your time at Disney Parks in the US, you do have other options. Over in Asia, you can choose from Shanghai Disney, Tokyo Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland. Each one of these Disney Parks offers some of the same benefits of DAS, or Disability Access Service, that you receive here in the US. However, there are a couple of differences you need to be aware of before you book your trip to any Disney in Asia. Once you know those differences, you will be able to plan your autism friendly vacation accordingly.

Using DAS at Disney in Asia

What is DAS?

First, let me give you a brief overview of DAS, or Disney’s Disability Access Service. Just in case you forgot about it or this is the first time you have heard about this service.

DAS is a program Disney designed to assist guests with disabilities. There have been changes to this program over the years. These changes were required due to people abusing the program.

DAS at Shanghai Disney

When you plan a visit to Shanghai Disney, it is important to download an application for the Disability Access Service. This will allow you to fill the application out before arriving at the park. This will save you a little bit of time. And it will allow you to know what is an acceptable form for proving your autistic family member’s disability.

It will be important to make sure that you have the proper forms or your DAS application will be denied. If I am planning your vacation for you, I will go over all of this with you to ensure you have everything you need.

Once you have arrived at Shanghai Disney, you will need to go to the Guest Services Center. This is directly at the main entrance to the park. A staff member will go over your application for approval.

Tokyo Disneyland

You won’t be able to fill out any paperwork for DAS before you arrive at Tokyo Disneyland. Everything will need to be done when you arrive at the park for the day.

At Disney in Asia, you must have an original copy of a certificate that states your family member’s disability. Copies of this certificate will not be accepted.

You will also need your autistic child’s photo ID to prove that they are the person named on the certificate. Your child’s passport will work for this requirement.

If you plan on visiting Tokyo Disneyland on multiple days, you will need to go through this process each time.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Over at Hong Kong Disneyland, you will also need to apply for DAS each day you visit the park. You must head over to City Hall to request DAS for your autistic child. A cast member will assist you with the registration process and request to see a valid ID and documentation of your child’s disability.

It is important to note that DAS is only valid for specific attractions at Hong Kong Disneyland. A staff member will tell you which attractions are not included, so you can plan your day accordingly.

No matter which Disney in Asia you are visiting, you will only be able to secure a return time for one attraction at a time. Once you have used your return time, you will be allowed to request another one.

As you can see, the DAS program is not as streamlined at Disney in Asia as it is here in the US. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t obtain approval for DAS when visiting any of these Disney Parks. As I am planning your vacation, I will share tips with you to make the entire process simple when you are at any of these parks. Contact me today and let me show you how all the Disney Parks in Asia are just as incredible as the ones you visit here in the US. I guarantee you will love every minute of your visit!
