Legoland - The Best Theme Park for Autistic Families
Does your autistic child struggle with crowds, loud noises, and bustling theme parks? I can relate! My youngest son is the same way. And yet, he loves visiting Legoland. In my opinion, Legoland is the best theme park for autistic families. Especially if you are beginning to implement theme parks into your family vacations. There are so many reasons why my autistic family loves Legoland. Today, I am sharing a few of those reasons with you so you can see if this might be the best theme park for your family.
Legoland - The Best Theme Park for Autistic Families
The Legoland Hotel
When you decide to take an autism-friendly vacation at Legoland, I recommend staying on-site at the hotel. This will allow you to be close to the theme park if your family needs a break during the day.
Plus, the hotel offers so many fun activities your kids will love!
Let’s start with the treasure chest in your room. Your family must wander around the resort to search for the code to unlock your treasure chest. This code changes every day, and the items you discover when unlocking your treasure chest are also different each day.
Imagine how excited your kids will get when they realize they get to search for their treasure each day of your vacation.
If your kids are okay riding on elevators, you will want to head over to the disco elevator. You can have your little dance party as you go from floor to floor. Oh, and just outside the elevator is a fart machine.
Don’t worry; you won’t ride the elevator all day. Instead, the kids will be thrilled to go swimming in the pool. Or spend hours building Lego creations in areas throughout the hotel. Everyone will be a master builder by the time you need to return home.
Legoland Theme Park
Despite all the fun your autistic family is having at the hotel, you will all want to visit the best theme park during your vacation.
You may think Legoland will be super crowded like all the other theme parks in Florida. If you check out my post on Instagram, you will see how empty it was during one of my family’s recent visits. The video was taken the week before Christmas. This may shock you because that is the time of the year when the theme parks are usually packed!
I always obtain the HERO pass for our visits, and I recommend that your autistic family do the same. However, you may not need to use your pass too often. It all depends on how busy it is during your visit.
I love how Legoland is the best theme park for seeing how your child will react to the manageable crowds and rides. My youngest son’s favorite area is Miniland, USA. He enjoys running from button to button to see what happens.
Pro Tip: If you see a wet spot on the ground at Miniland, walk around instead of through it.
He also loves how the rides are tamer than at other area theme parks.
Throughout the day, you can stop to build Legos and trade mini-figures. However, my favorite part about Legoland is the Granny Apple Fries, which I get to order every time we visit. They are yummy!
There are so many other things your autistic family will enjoy during a vacation at Legoland. It truly is the best theme park for autistic families! If you are finally ready to tackle a theme park for the first time with your autistic child, we should chat. I can easily plan every vacation detail so you can relax and have fun with the people you love the most.
